Farm Crest Foods is a third generation family business operating in Pigeon, Michigan. The first facility housed 6,000 egg-laying hens, while today the facility houses more than 850,000 hens. What started as a hands-on only operation, the company has embraced modern manufacturing practices, adding state of the art machinery to further exceptional production.

Joe Maust, Jr. (1943 - 2015)
Owner and President
Joe was a second-generation Maust, born to Joe Sr. and Emma Maust, founders of Farm Crest Foods. A Pigeon native, Joe took an active interest in his father's business early on, working at the family grocery store in his teens and assembling chicken cages on poultry farms during high school.
Joe soon became in involved in all areas of the family business, including mixing feed, driving trucks, and working his way into management. Until his passing in 2015, Joe was the President of Active Feed Company and all of its subsidiaries. Today, Joe's wife Diane acts as President.
Joe also served his community over the many years. He was a Board Member on the Huron County Economic Development Commission and an active member of the Rotary Club.
Scott is a third-generation Maust, born to Joe and Diane Maust. He began his career with Active Feed Company when he was 10 years old, starting as an egg gatherer for his grandfather's business. Learning the business from a young age, Scott became the Packaging Plant Manager for Farm Crest Foods in 1995 and the Feed Mill Manager in 2006. In 2010, Scott became the Operations Manager for Active Feed, working closely with his father to the run the day-to-day operations of the family business.
Scott graduated from Goshen College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration. He remains an active part of the Pigeon community as a member of the Rotary Club.
Tamera has been one of Farm Crest's finest and most devoted team members in the history of the company, having started in 1990 as an egg packer and risen to her current position as Plant Manager. She is responsible for all manufacturing processes and creating effectiveness in costs. She also oversees all employment activities and the production of safe and quality products for our consumers.
Tamera has graduated from the National Egg Quality School with a Certificate of Proficiency for Egg Quality, and holds certifications in Internal Auditing, Food Defense and HACCP Management.
Nicole has been a valuable member of our Farm Crest family since 2001. She started her career with packing eggs for the company. Her professionalism and devotion let her rise to quality control, shipping and receiving, and ultimately Production Manager. She is responsible for the overall management of Farm Crest workers, managing birds and feed, scheduling and maintenance.
Nicole graduated from the National Egg Quality School with a Certification of Proficiency for Egg Quality and the Layer Health Management School with a Certification of Completion.
